Two trophies sit in the cabinet, and the first of them came against Atlante in 2023: the Campeón de Campeones of the Liga de Expansión MX.

Then the address kept changing. In 2001 the club bought the licence of Gallos de Aguascalientes and brought the team back to Guadalajara. Three years later it was moved to La Piedad in Michoacán and renamed Chivas La Piedad; in 2005 it went to Tepic, in Nayarit, as Chivas Coras; in 2006 it returned home and took the Tapatío name back. The franchise was sold to Universidad de Guadalajara. Tapatío came back in June 2020, created for the new Liga de Expansión MX.

What the club cannot do is go up. The reserve status that gives it players also closes the door to Liga MX, and no title in the second tier changes that.
