Correcaminos Uat

In 2020 the man who ran the university turned out on a Liga MX pitch. Humberto Filizola, rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas, was 44 when he made his debut for the club his institution owns.

That badge had been the sporting brand of the UAT since 1969.

The best of what has followed came in the Apertura 2011, when Correcaminos UAT won the Liga de Ascenso final against La Piedad, 3-1 and then 1-0. The title remains the club's high point, above the Segunda División they won back in 1986-87 and the finals lost in 1997, in 2014 and in the Copa MX of 2012.

Claudio Borghi, a world champion with Argentina in 1986, played a single year here in 1994.

Home is the Estadio Marte R. Gómez, 10,520 seats and an athletics track that was rebuilt in August 2024 without changing what the football ground holds.
