Red Cards Define Frustrating Draw Between CorreCAMpos and Durango
CorreCAMpos UAT and Durango played out a goalless draw in the sixth round of the Lliga de Expansión MX Apertura on Friday night. The match ended 0:0 after two red cards reduced both sides to ten men in a frustrating evening. «By then», the game had already lost its rhythm after G. Moreno was sent off for CorreCAMpos in the fifty-second minute.
W. Ortega compounded the drama for Durango just seventeen minutes later, picking up a second yellow in the sixty-ninth minute. «And here's the thing» about this match — neither side could produce a clean chance despite the reduced numbers. The home side had created three big chances but failed to convert, while Durango managed none at all. The away goalkeeper made six saves to keep his side in the game before the sending-off.
CorreCAMpos dominated possession with 38 per cent of the ball but still managed six shots on target. Durango held 62 per cent of possession yet registered only two shots on target. «To be fair», the statistics hide the reality that both teams struggled to cut each other open. The home side completed 191 passes in their own half compared to Durango's 179, showing how cautious both teams became after the dismissals.
The result keeps CorreCAMpos in fourth place with eleven points from six games, three wins and two draws. Durango remain in eleventh place with seven points from six matches, their form still below expectations. «By then», both teams would have felt this was a game they should have won. The home side's recent form included a 3:1 victory over Monarcas, while Durango had lost 1:2 to Leones Negros in their previous outing.
CorreCAMpos made six substitutions including D. Mina, B. Mendoza and R. Dominguez, while Durango brought on D. Oteo, L. Morales and J. Torres. The match ended with both teams holding ten men, a fitting conclusion to an evening where neither side could find the breakthrough. The draw leaves both sides needing more clinical finishing in the coming weeks.
