Rian spent three seasons coming through the youth ranks at Estádio Onésio Brasileiro Alvarenga before he ever pulled on the first-team shirt, and by the time he left on loan to Ypiranga-RS he had made 23 appearances for Vila Nova's senior side. That path — OBA pitch to professional debut to a loan away — is the one the U20 side exists to produce, and it is not the only name to have walked it. João Lucas went through the same academy and went on to make 70 appearances for the club before loan spells at Figueirense and Velo Clube-SP, while Marcos Paulo, a striker who came up through the same age groups, earned a call-up to Portugal's under-19 side.

The team plays in Vermelho e Branco, the same red and white as the senior side it feeds, and carries the same badge and the same nickname, Tigre, into every youth fixture. They retained it in 2025.

None of that carries the weight it does without Atlético Goianiense U20 on the other side of it.
