León beat Atlético San Luis 2-0 in the Liga MX Apertura round 8 at the Estadio León on Monday night. The hosts took all three points against a side sitting in 16th place, moving themselves up to sixth with 13 points from eight games.
And here's the thing — the decisive moment came in the second half when Diber Cambindo opened the scoring at the 49-minute mark. He had been substituted off at the 80th minute but had already done enough to steer his team clear. Cambindo added a second just after the hour, at 71 minutes, to close the game out.
There were plenty of changes on the horizon. Atlético San Luis brought on five players at the 68th minute — Ivan Moreno, Jordi Cortizo, Jose Rodriguez, Román Torres and David Rodriguez — hoping to find a way through. León responded with their own substitutions, bringing on Rafael Llorente and Sebastien Salles-lamonge at 77 minutes.

The visitors had a higher expected goals tally of 1.42 to 1.53 but couldn't convert their chances — they managed just two shots on target from ten attempts.

The hosts created two big chances and had nine shots on target, while the visitors offered little threat at the far end.
Discipline was mostly maintained, though Jesús Lara picked up a yellow card at 48 minutes and Roberto Meraz at 81. Benjamín Galindo went off early in stoppage time for a booking. The result leaves León four points above Atlético San Luis in the table, a gap that could prove significant as the season progresses.
