Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins — Hartford Wolf Pack: 2:3, AHL

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins met Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL on 4 October, the visitors taking a 3:2 win. The contest opened with little history between the sides and that showed in the tempo — both teams felt the pressure from the first whistle.

Our forecast called for home success at 67 per cent confidence, but the match went another way. Hartford found a way through when it mattered, and the Penguins ran out of answers in the final period.

The hosts had lost their opening meeting against Springfield Thunderbirds 3:2, while the visitors arrived after a 5:2 victory over Lehigh Valley Phantoms. That contrast in momentum carried through — Hartford looked sharper, the Penguins struggled to build rhythm.

Three periods of twenty minutes produced a tight contest. The visitors came out on top, but it was never a runaway. Every goal felt earned, and the line has barely moved for either side.

Both clubs sit level on points after one game each. The table tells us little beyond that, and neither result means much in isolation. What matters is how they respond next time out.
