«Colts»
The team's OHL history opens later than the club's real one. A Junior B side had already been playing in Barrie since 1946, and it carried the Sutherland Cup home in 1935 and again in 1993 before the city ever fielded a major junior franchise. The OHL license came through in May 1994, and the Colts took the ice the following season.
Their one run to the top came in 1999–2000: the Bobby Orr Trophy, the Emms Trophy and then the J. Ross Robertson Cup as OHL champions, a season that carried them to the Memorial Cup final, where Rimouski Océanic beat them.
What travels with the Colts now is the Highway 11 rivalry with North Bay, a fixture where the season standings stop mattering the moment the puck drops, alongside a long-running one against Sudbury.
