The founding year is 1960. For decades the high-water mark stayed where a run in 1977 left it: a fourth-round tie in the Turkish Cup, lost 3-0 on aggregate to Kocaelispor.
What changed came late and came quickly. Batman Petrolspor won the TFF 3. Lig in 2022, dropped back, won it again in 2024, and then took the TFF 2. That last title puts the club in the 1. Lig, a level it had not reached in more than six decades of existence.
The shirts are red, white and black.
