Sigma Olomouc came to Dusana Arena and left with three points, beating Plzeň 3–2 in the eighth round of the Czech League. The visitors had already been on a good run — two wins and a draw in their last three — while the hosts were closing in on a deal with only ten points from eight games.
The opening goal came at the 16th minute when Ahmad Ghali Abubakar finished off a move. Plzeň responded through an own goal by Abdoulaye Sylla at 34 minutes, then David Tkáč restored equality at 41. By then Sigma had worked a short corner that led to a penalty for Merchas Doski, but Lukáš Červ stepped up and missed the spot-kick at 45+7.
And here's the thing about matches like this — the momentum shifts in the second half. Vaclav Sejk gave Sigma the lead at 52 minutes, and Baboucarr Faal sealed it at 85. There were plenty of changes on both sides, with Sigma bringing on Tomáš Ladra, Salim Fago Lawal and Adam Gabriel all in the 63rd minute, while Plzeň shuffled their attack by bringing on Lukáš Červ at 70.
The statistics tell a different story. Plzeň held 56 per cent possession and launched 104 attacks, but their shots accuracy was just 14 per cent — three on target from thirteen attempts. Sigma were more clinical, hitting four of five shots on target with an 80 per cent accuracy rate. The hosts created two big chances, as did the visitors, but only one converted.
To be fair, the result keeps Sigma in third place with sixteen points, four clear of the teams around them. Plzeň remain tenth, still searching for consistency after that heavy 5–1 win over Red Star Belgrade and the 0–3 defeat to them in the same fixture. Cup football has its own rules, but this was league football, and the points stayed with the visitors.
