The McDonald's Trophy came in 2024, with Florence beating Roma Volley 3-0 in the final. The Serie A1 title, the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa have not come.

The earlier cup mattered more to where the club stands today. Winning the Coppa Italia di Serie A2 in 2013-14 was followed by promotion to Serie A1 in 2014, and they have stayed in the top division since.

The team began in 1975 as Volleyball Arci San Casciano, in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, and stayed there for close to half a century. The name changed several times over those years. In 2004 the club became Il Bisonte Azzurra Volley San Casciano, and the Bison nickname dates from that change. Sky blue and white are the colours.

The move to Florence came in 2022. The headquarters left San Casciano just as the new Palazzo Wanny opened, with room for 3,500 spectators, and the club took the name Azzurra Volley Firenze. The hall is in the city itself now, and the Tuscan derby against Savino Del Bene Scandicci is a fixture the club plays close to home.

Alessandro Orefice was appointed coach in 2026. Beatrice Agrifoglio is the captain he works with.
