Match report
Seoul Thunders edge Goyang in eight-point thriller
Seoul Thunders beat Goyang 82:81 in the KBL on Sunday, a game that decided itself in the final moments. The hosts had been out of form, losing three of their last four outings before this one, while the visitors were riding a two-match losing streak against Suwon.
By then, the standings told a familiar story. Seoul sit tenth with sixteen wins from fifty-four games, while Goyang occupy fifth with twenty-eight victories. This result shifts nothing in the table, but it ends a run that had been worrying for both sides.
And here's the thing about the numbers. Goyang hit seventeen three-pointers to Seoul's twelve, and they had thirty-one field goals made against twenty-eight. The visitors also grabbed fourteen offensive rebounds to six, yet Seoul found a way back into it anyway. The difference came down to free throws — fourteen made by the hosts, two by the guests.
To be fair, this isn't the kind of game you can predict from recent results alone. Seoul had lost 83:101 to Wonsan DB earlier in the season and 70:78 to Anyang Changwon last month. Goyang had just lost 79:88 to Suwon on the previous day and 86:95 to Wonsan a few days before that. Both teams were finding consistency hard.
The result leaves Seoul one game off the top half of the table, though they have the same number of games played as everyone else. Goyang remain fifth but will be weighing up a move to stabilise their defence — they gave away nineteen personal fouls compared to Seoul's sixteen.
