Galitos Barreiro

In Barreiro the fixture that matters is the Dérbi do Barreiro, against Barreirense, the club Galitos treat as their main rival.

Galitos began on the factory floor. On 25 April 1935 eight young workers from the Cork Factory started the club, and the full name they gave it was Galitos Futebol Clube. Its supporters call the side the Galo, the Rooster, and the colours are red and grey.

Success came at long intervals. Galitos won the Portuguese 2nd Division in 1970/71 and did not win it again until 2001/02. The nearest they have come to a national trophy was in 2013-14, when they reached the final of the Taça de Portugal, the Portuguese Basketball Cup, and finished as runners-up. They were runners-up again in the Supertaça de Portugal in 2014.

Miguel Minhava joined the club that same year. He played for Galitos until 2017 and later moved into coaching. António Tavares, Alexandre Coelho and Tiago Raimundo have also worn the shirt.

Home games are played at the Pavilhão Municipal Luís de Carvalho, a municipal hall with 440 seats.
