Ginásio Olhanense are back in the ProLiga, the second tier of Portuguese basketball. They earned the place in 2025 by winning the 1ª Divisão, the third tier, and beating Académica in the final. It was the first senior title of the modern era for the club, which plays under the sponsorship name Ginásio Del Mar Marina. Coach José Calabote was in charge, and promotion came with the trophy. Back in the second tier, they meet Portimonense again, the nearest basketball rival on the Algarve, in league games and regional competitions alike.

They had come close before. In 2018-19 they reached the final of the same division, and it took six more seasons to win it.

The club in Olhão is a multi-sport one, and basketball has not been its only source of young players. The youth section won the Taça Nacional Sub-18 Feminina. Rafael Wildner, who has represented Portugal at youth level, is the current example on the men's side. The best-known name from further back is Fonte Santa, João Pires Fonte Santa Júnior. He played for Olhanense in the 1950s, then moved on to Sporting CP and went on to play for the national team. Lita Albuquerque, who played for the club, was called up to the national team in 1985.

The home court, the Pavilhão do Ginásio Clube Olhanense, sits on Rua Manuel António Pina. The parent club dates from 1892. Its basketball section was set up on 31 January 1982, ninety years later.
