Slovanka Women

Monika Satoranská was the first Slovanka player called up to the national team, in 2013, and by then the club she came through had already moved twice looking for a place to belong. Founded in Prague in September 1989 as a girls' side named Basket Slovanka, after the primary school "Na Slovance" in Libeň, the club had no arena of its own in the capital and spent years on the road, fielding its senior team under borrowed city names — Chomutov in 2005, Tábor in 2006 — before returning to Basket Slovanka in 2008.

The settling came in 2009, when the senior side moved to Mladá Boleslav as Slovanka MB. City backing and proper facilities turned into results almost immediately: the team reached the semifinals in its first season there. Prague did not disappear from the story — a separate youth association, Sportovní klub Slovanka Praha 4, was set up in 2013 to carry on the academy work the Mladá Boleslav side had left behind, and it has since produced players such as Adéla Civínová. The senior club kept adjusting its own name to match where it actually was, becoming Slovanka MB z.s. in 2016, shifting its registered office to Mladá Boleslav the following year, and settling on the plain name Slovanka in 2020.

None of that wandering has yet brought a Ženská basketbalová liga title or a Czech Cup, and USK Praha remains the team every Slovanka side measures itself against. The A-team now plays its ŽBL home games at SA Rokytka in Prague, a 350-seat hall, a reminder that for all the years spent chasing a home in Mladá Boleslav, part of the club never really left the capital.
