About

The Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament is Sri Lanka's premier domestic List A cricket competition. Organised by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), it was established in the 2020–21 season to replace the Premier Limited Overs Tournament and the Invitation Limited Over Tournament. The event sits at the top tier of the club cricket pyramid, alongside the first-class Premier Trophy.

Participation is restricted to historic clubs holding first-class status. Currently, the field comprises teams such as Badureliya Sports Club, Moors Sports Club, Nondescripts Cricket Club, Colombo Cricket Club, Sebastianites Cricket and Athletic Club, and Colts Cricket Club. The structure involves dividing the sides into two groups for a round-robin league stage. The top teams progress to semi-finals and a final to decide the winner. There is no promotion or relegation for this limited-overs event; eligibility relies on permanent first-class status rather than performance in the current campaign.

Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club leads the modern era with two titles from 2021–22 and 2022–23. Colombo Cricket Club holds the current champion status from 2025. This format distinguishes the competition from regional representative tournaments like the National Super League, focusing instead on historic club rivalries. Singhalese Sports Club holds the all-time record for the predecessor tournament with ten titles. The competition has featured notable individual performances, including Thisara Perera hitting six sixes in a single over during the 2020–21 season. The tournament operates without a consistent commercial title sponsor.
