Major Clubs T20 Tournament (Sierra Leone) 2022/23

The Major Clubs T20 Tournament is the premier domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Sri Lanka for traditional club teams, organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). Established in 2022, it revived the club-based format after a period of provincial and franchise experiments. The tournament sits below the commercial Lanka Premier League (LPL) in prestige but serves as the primary domestic platform for local talent, featuring historic clubs rather than geographic franchises. The format involves 14 teams divided into two groups of seven. Teams play a single round-robin within their group, with the top four from each group advancing to a knockout stage comprising quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. Matches are decided by the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method in case of ties or rain. There is no promotion or relegation system; participation is based on invitation or qualification of established first-class clubs. The inaugural edition was won by Sri Lanka Army Sports Club, who defeated Colts Cricket Club in the final. Recent winners include Colombo Cricket Club (2025), who defeated Panadura Sports Club, and Nondescripts Cricket Club (2024), who defeated Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club. The tournament is distinct from the LPL in its focus on domestic players and traditional club identities, whereas the LPL is a franchise league with international players. The competition is part of a broader domestic structure that includes First-Class and List A tournaments for clubs, but the T20 format is the specific focus of this tournament.
