The Campeonato Goiano Segunda Divisão is the second tier of professional football in the Brazilian state of Goiás. Organized by the Federação Goiana de Futebol (FGF), the competition was established in 1959 and operates as the primary pathway for clubs seeking promotion to the top-flight Campeonato Goiano. It has undergone significant structural changes throughout its history, including suspensions during the 1960s and 1970s, before stabilizing into a single-group round-robin format.
For the 2026 season, the league has expanded to include ten teams. The field comprises sides promoted from the Terceira Divisão, such as Bom Jesus EC, Mineiros, and Crixás EC, alongside clubs relegated from the higher division. The competition structure ensures that the top two teams in the standings secure promotion to the First Division, while the bottom two face relegation to the third tier. This setup maintains a clear sporting incentive for all participants throughout the campaign.
Rio Verde holds the record for the most titles in the competition’s history with six victories. CRAC and Goiatuba follow with four titles each. The current champion is Anapolina, who won the 2025 edition undefeated. The league often features reserve teams of major clubs or historic entities like CRAC and Goiás that have opted to compete in the second tier. While the competition differs from the First Division in prestige and financial resources, it remains a crucial developmental step for football in the region.
The official online presence for the governing body is accessible via ffgf.esp.br. The league continues to serve as a vital component of the local football pyramid, providing opportunities for growth and advancement for participating clubs.
