Artesanos-Metepec cruise past Calor de San Pedro
Artesanos-Metepec made a statement in the second round of the Apertura, seeing off Calor de San Pedro 3-0 at home. The hosts were clinical in front of goal, scoring three times through the match to move up to the summit of the table. Calor, making their first appearance of the campaign, found themselves outclassed from the opening whistle.
The opening goal came early, in the seventh minute, catching the visitors flat-footed. Artesanos-Metepec controlled the tempo and added a second just after the break, in the forty-seventh. A late strike in the eighty-third sealed the victory, leaving little doubt about the quality difference on display. Calor never really threatened to get back into the game.
The statistics tell their own story. Artesanos-Metepec registered five shots on target compared to just one from Calor, while the visitors held 52 percent possession but couldn't do much with it. The hosts had eleven shots off target as well, showing they were probing for chances throughout. Calor's attacks totalled 98 but produced very little of note.
Artesanos-Metepec now sit second in the table with six points from two games, unbeaten so far. Calor de San Pedro remain in eighth after their opening defeat, with zero points from one match. The gap between them looks wider than the table suggests.
Three points from the opening fixture might seem routine enough, but this performance had real substance to it. Artesanos-Metepec looked comfortable in their own territory and didn't need to chase the game. Calor will be hoping for a better return when they next take to the pitch.
