Germinal de Rasón secured a 2:1 victory over Juventud Unida Universidad in the first round of the Losers Stage at the Torneo Federal A on Saturday evening. The result keeps both sides level on 10 points after seven games, though the hosts move ahead in the table on goal difference. It was a match defined by late drama rather than early dominance.
The opening goal arrived in the 51st minute when K. Lencina found the net. By then, both teams had been probing, with the home side registering 126 attacks against 111 for their visitors. The goal shifted the momentum, though neither team had quite taken control.
A second goal followed in the 75th minute, scored by D. De Hoyos. The away side had pushed back in the interim, creating chances of their own, but the deficit looked increasingly difficult to overcome. Juventud Unida responded with urgency, though they lacked the cutting edge to break through.
A substitute, L. Lucero, came on in the 56th minute as the away side sought to get back into the game. The change was part of a broader tactical adjustment, but it took until the 90th minute plus one before Juventud Unida pulled one back through F. Aman Campos. The late goal added tension to what had been a relatively even contest.
A yellow card in the 48th minute was the only booking for Juventud Unida, while the hosts went the entire match without a caution. The disciplinary record reflected a match that was competitive but not overly physical.
Statistics tell a story of a closely contested affair. Germinal de Rasón enjoyed 52 per cent possession and registered five shots on target compared to three for their visitors. The home side also won five corners to two, suggesting they were the more attacking force throughout. Yet the away side created enough to make the result feel closer than the numbers might suggest.
The victory keeps Germinal de Rasón in fourth place, while Juventud Unida remain in sixth. Both teams have dropped points in recent outings, with the home side losing twice in their last five and the visitors suffering three defeats. This result provides a boost for the hosts, who had not won since their victory over Santamarina on 28 June.
