Fundación Amigos por el Deporte spent thirteen years climbing before it reached a third division it had never played in. The route ran through three separate promotions: the Torneo Federal C in 2018, settled 1-0 against Rincón del Atuel; the Liga Mendocina's Torneo Unificación in 2020, a 4-0 win over Lusuriaga; and, after a final lost 0-2 to Independiente de Chivilcoy in 2021, the Torneo Regional Federal Amateur at last taken in the 2025/26 season, 3-2 over La Amistad. That result sent the club into the Torneo Federal A for the first time.

The club plays out of Predio Social y Deportivo FADEP, a 1,000-capacity ground in Russell, a town in the department of Maipú, Mendoza province. It carries the initials of its own name: Fundación Amigos por el Deporte was registered in October 2012, having started as a youth football school.

Its founder, Sebastián Torrico, kept goal for Argentina and won the Copa Libertadores with San Lorenzo before returning to his native Mendoza province to set up the project in 2011. He remains president. The forward who sealed the club's biggest night, Gonzalo Klusener, converted two decisive penalties in the promotion to Federal A; Diego Pozo took charge of the first team for that 2026 campaign.

What began as a coaching school for young players in Russell now competes three tiers below the Argentine top flight.
