Mineiros — Rio Verde: 1:2, Goiano - 2

Rião-Verde secured a 2-1 away victory over Mineros in the fifth round of the Goyano-2 regular season on Wednesday evening. The result moves the visitors further clear in second place while Mineros remain in seventh position after ten matches.

Felipe Codo opened the scoring for the hosts in the fifth minute, but I. Ferreira responded just fourteen minutes later to level matters. Rião-Verde took the lead in the thirty-ninth minute after Mineros had been reduced to ten men following a red card in the thirty-first.

And here's the thing about cup football — or regional leagues, which often share the same unpredictability. Rião-Verde added a second red card of their own in the sixty-sixth minute, but Mineros could not find a way back into the game despite having more possession and more attacks overall.

Mineros dominated possession at 57 per cent and registered 177 attacks compared with 118 for the visitors, yet their nine shots off target and three on target yielded only a single goal. Rião-Verde managed four shots on target from ten attempts, proving more clinical when it mattered.

The result extends Rião-Verde's advantage at the top of the table to ten points over Mineros, who now sit on ten points with two victories, four draws and four defeats. The visitors remain on twenty points with six wins from ten matches.
