Atlético Bucaramanga Women

The women's side in Bucaramanga grew out of a deal rather than a launch: the men's club, Club Atlético Bucaramanga, joined forces with a local outfit called Botín de Oro Femenino, and in December 2016 the two became one team. Colombia's professional women's league was about to begin, and the city needed an entrant.

It arrived with more than it managed to keep. In the inaugural 2017 season Las Leopardas reached the semi-finals, where Independiente Santa Fe put them out — and that remains the deepest they have gone. The same campaign produced the first four-goal haul in the league's history, scored by Manuela González against Alianza Petrolera.

Daniela Arias made her debut for the club in that first year. A defender rather than an academy product — the club was months old and had no academy to speak of — she went on to play for Colombia at the 2023 World Cup and at the Olympics the following year.

The bad days have been heavy. In 2021 the team lost 8–0 to América de Cali, the worst afternoon in its short record. The dugout has rarely stayed still either; Eduardo Collado took charge in 2025.

Home is the Estadio Américo Montanini, which most people in the city still call the Alfonso López and which holds 25,000. Renovations pushed the team out to Floridablanca in early 2025, to a ground less than half the size, before they moved back for the 2026 season.

The fixture that fills the calendar is the one against Cúcuta Deportivo, the Clásico del Oriente Colombiano.

What is missing is the obvious thing: a trophy.
