Guerreros

The best season the current side has produced ended one game short of a national title: in 2024–25, playing under the borrowed license of Atlético Cocula because of paperwork trouble with the Mexican Football Federation, the team won the Liga TDP Zona B and reached the Liga TDP national final, where it lost to Héroes de Zaci. It took until 27 June 2025 for the club to get its own name back from the federation, and only since then have results on the pitch counted under the banner Guerreros de Autlán.

The name existed once before under different circumstances. Between 2002 and 2008, as Club Deportivo Autlán, the team played in the Segunda División, finishing runner-up in the Apertura 2004 while its reserve side took the Tercera División title the same year. That version of the club folded in 2008, and its presidency has since become the uncomfortable part of the story: Raúl Flores Hernández, known as "El Tío," ran the club through those years before being named by the United States Treasury in 2017 as a drug-trafficking figure, with alleged financial links to the footballer Rafael Márquez — who never played for Autlán himself.

None of that touches the club that plays now. Rebuilt from February 2023 and carrying its promotion into the Liga Premier Serie A, Guerreros de Autlán holds the town's only real claim to professional football, at the Unidad Deportiva Chapultepec, a ground small enough — 1,500 seats — that there is no derby to speak of, only the team and the city behind it.

Sergio "Cayo" Díaz took charge as head coach with that promotion already banked, inheriting a squad still adjusting to playing under its own name.
