Bahía Blanca still talks about the afternoon in 2015 when Jacobo Mansilla scored the goal that beat River Plate. That same year Hernán Encina netted the winners against both San Lorenzo and River Plate.

The shirt keeps to that first idea — yellow and black vertical stripes, black shorts, black socks.

Nationally the record reads differently: two promotions to the Primera División on sporting merit, in 1984 and 2003, and three Primera B Nacional championships, the first in 2001/02 and the most recent in 2009/10. The longest of the club's spells in the top flight, from 2012 to 2017, produced the names Bahía Blanca still remembers. Gustavo Bou arrived on loan in 2014 and finished among the team's top scorers. Francisco Pizzini led the line in 2016, and Fernando Coniglio scored the winner against Estudiantes that same season. Ezequiel Parnisari, a product of the club's own academy, marshalled the back line as captain.

Home games are played at the Estadio Roberto Natalio Carminatti, which holds 18,000, and the fixture that matters most in the city is against Villa Mitre, the Clásico de Bahía Blanca. No one, though, is tied to the club quite like Cristian Villanueva, who left and returned twice — 2008 to 2010, 2010 to 2012, 2014 to 2018 — and passed 200 appearances for Olimpo along the way.
