«El Tricolor»
Three broad vertical stripes of white, green and black gave the team its nickname, El Tricolor. Home matches are played at Estadio El Fortín, which holds 6,000.
In the Liga del Sur, the regional competition, Villa Mitre has rarely been troubled for long: nine championships between 1940 and 2003.
Rodrigo Cardoso came through the club's youth ranks and left for River Plate in 2024. Mauro Bellone, who spent much of his playing career at Villa Mitre, died in 2026.
Across town sits Olimpo, and the derby between the two carries the name Clásico Bahiense. In official meetings beyond the local league, Olimpo holds a narrow edge — 12 wins to 11, with 10 draws.
