Highway 11 runs from Prince Albert down to Saskatoon. There is a rivalry with the Blades, and another, quieter one with the Regina Pats.

The Raiders spent their first eleven seasons in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The move stuck; Prince Albert has stayed in the WHL ever since.

The Ed Chynoweth Cup came in 1985, the club's first WHL title, and it did not stop there. That same team carried on to the Memorial Cup and won it, the high point of the franchise's history and one that a small Saskatchewan market has had to live up to ever since.

What keeps the name current is who passed through on the way up.

Long before any of that, in the summer before the 1971-72 season, it was the fans who picked the name. Raiders won the vote, and the club never saw a reason to change it.
