«Cougars»
Every year the Chiefs come to town for "Oktoberfest," and the Cougars take the ice in lederhosen-patterned jerseys for the occasion.
The franchise itself started somewhere else. It began life in 1971 as the Victoria Cougars and only became the Prince George Cougars in 1994. The Prince George era has added two division titles of its own, in 2016–17 and 2023–24, but no further league championship.
Player pedigree has done more for the Cougars' name than silverware. Zdeno Chara and Andrei Vasilevskiy both passed through the dressing room on their way to NHL careers, alongside Dustin Byfuglien and Sheldon Souray. Mark Lamb has coached the team since 2019, following a line of coaches that stretches back to Doug Hobson.
