Anioly Torun

The Sports and Entertainment Hall of Primary School No. 28 in Toruń seats only around 700, a school gym pressed into service as a top-flight volleyball venue, and for the bigger nights the club shifts across town to Arena Toruń, which holds more than 5,000. That gap between the two grounds says something about a club still building itself upward: home matches stay in the small hall by ul. Przy Skarpie, but anything drawing a crowd goes elsewhere.

Anioły Toruń was registered in January 2021 and announced publicly that May, set up by Wilfredo León, the Cuban-Polish volleyball player, together with his wife Małgorzata and the Lejman brothers. The stated aim from the start was to build a men's volleyball centre in the city, including an academy carrying León's name. The climb through the league system has been steady rather than smooth: promotion out of the third tier in the club's first season, two attempts at the second tier that stalled short, then a dominant 2023/2024 campaign that finally took them into the first division. In their debut season at that level they finished 11th. Two seasons later, in 2025/2026, they finished second in the regular season and won bronze in the play-offs, the first medal in the club's short history.

Matches against BKS Visła Proline Bydgoszcz carry the label Derby Kujaw i Pomorza, the closest thing the club has to a settled rivalry. Away from the men's team, the club's beach volleyball side has also picked up silverware, including a national runner-up finish. What Anioły Toruń have not yet done is win a domestic title outright — the medals so far have come in cups, regional tournaments and one bronze, not the top step of the league itself.
