Panathlitikos Women

Panathinaikos Women's Basketball have won the Greek Championship five times, and the last of them, in 2021, came sixteen years after the one before it. Titles from 1998, 2000, 2005 and 2013 sit either side of long gaps, and the Greek Cup follows the same pattern: won once in 2000, then not again until 2023, and again the year after that.

The team was formed in 1937, the first women's basketball side to exist in Greece, inside a club built around the men's football and basketball sections that had carried the Panathinaikos name since 1908. Green and white, the same colours as the rest of the club, and the same nickname too: the Greens.

Home games are played at the Pavlos and Thanasis Giannakopoulos Indoor Hall, which holds 1,500, with the Cholargos hall used as a second venue. European nights are a different matter — for those, the team moves to the Telekom Center Athens, a hall built to take crowds of up to 19,250.

The team currently competes in the A1 Women, the Greek Cup, and the EuroCup Women, carrying that domestic form into European competition.
