Border

East London's cricketers took the field under the Border banner from March 1898, and Buffalo Park became their home, holding around 15,000 spectators for the matches against Eastern Province.

Border's honours board is built mostly on one-day cricket: the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge came to East London twice, in 2012–13 and again in 2014–15. A runners-up finish in the 2004–05 CSA 3-Day Cup, lost to Griqualand West, sits alongside those two titles. Between those seasons Border's players spent long stretches turning out for the Warriors, the composite franchise formed with Eastern Province in 2004, so the silverware the Warriors collected in that period belongs to a different entity rather than to Border itself.

When Cricket South Africa scrapped the franchise system in 2020 and rebuilt provincial cricket, the senior men's team was renamed Eastern Cape iiNyathi in August 2021, an isiXhosa word for buffaloes that pointed back to the Buffalo City Metro around the ground. The women's and age-group sides kept the Border name.
