Polissya beat Chernomorets 2:1 in the Premier League on 2 August. The visitors took the lead after a goalless first half, then held on after Chernomorets pulled one back. Polissya moved into second place with 12 points from five matches, while the hosts sat 13th on four points after four games.
G. Robakidze opened the scoring in the 13th minute for Chernomorets, but V. Veleten levelled for Polissya in the 32nd. I. Krasnopir put the visitors ahead in the 51st minute after the break, and that proved to be enough. Polissya made five substitutions during the match, Chernomorets four, with L. Emerllahu and Leandro Andrade among those brought on.
The statistics told the story of a one-sided game. Polissya held 82 per cent of possession and made 128 attacks compared with 59 from Chernomorets. The hosts managed only one corner and had more goal kicks than throw-ins, while Polissya registered eight corners and twice as many shots on target.
Chernomorets came into the match on the back of a mixed run: a win against Nivа Vinnytsia, a loss to Kolos Kovalivka, and draws or wins in between. Polissya had been more consistent in the league, with four victories in five matches, though they had also suffered defeats in European fixtures against Copenhagen and Plzen.
The result left Chernomorets seven points off the teams above them in the table, while Polissya extended their lead at the top of the pile. By then, the visitors had established a comfortable cushion, even if the match itself was never entirely comfortable for them.
