Sūðuroy defeated Høvik 3-0 in the 21st round of Iceland's 1. deild on August 29th, 2026. The away side's performance carried them past a home side already struggling for confidence. By then, Høvik had lost four of their previous five league matches, including a 0-5 hammering of HB II just one week earlier.
The visitors opened the scoring early, with E. Umoh finding the net in the second minute. To be fair, that kind of strike can shift a game's psychology, and Høvik looked rattled straight away. The hosts did not travel to make up the numbers, but that afternoon they had little to show for it.
Everything changed in the eighteenth minute when O. Godtfred received a red card. Høvik were reduced to ten men and the match tilted decisively. Sūðuroy worked a short corner shortly after the restart, and M. D. Djurhuus converted in the thirty-fifth minute to double the lead.
The home side could not recover, and O. Thomsen added a third in stoppage time at ninety-one minutes. It was a result that felt inevitable once the red card came, and Høvik let the game flow away from them without much fight.
The standings tell the full story now. Sūðuroy sit third with forty-four points from fourteen wins and five defeats, while Høvik languish ninth on nineteen points after only six victories in twenty-one matches.
