B71 secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Høyvík in the 19th round of the 1. deild regular season on Saturday. The result leaves the visitors firmly at the summit of the table while Høyvík remain rooted in eighth place.
B71 struck twice before the interval through N. F. Sejr, who found the net in the 45th minute and added another shortly after. The visitors then extended their lead early in the second half, with Sejr completing his brace in the 52nd minute.
E. Oteng was everywhere in the closing stages, scoring in both the 72nd and 73rd minutes to seal the comprehensive win. The goals came in quick succession, and Høyvík were left exposed as the visitors changed the shape at half-time and never looked back.
Høyvík have been on a mixed run recently, winning their last outing against Suðuroy but suffering losses to Víkingur II and IF II in between. They sit on 22 points from 22 games, with seven wins, one draw and 14 defeats.
B71, by contrast, fancy their chances of taking the title. They sit top of the table with 56 points from 22 matches, recording 18 wins, two draws and only two defeats. The gap between the two sides is now 34 points.
The result means B71 have ended a barren spell for Høyvík, who have failed to score in this fixture. The hosts need the points badly as they look to climb away from the relegation zone, but the line has barely moved all season.
