Founded on 5 March 2004, the club spent years without much to show beyond the shirt and the ground until 2016, when it won the Campeonato Cearense Série C, the state's third tier, and went up to Série B for the following season. It remains the one honour on the club's record, and Série A and the Copa do Brasil have stayed out of reach.

Matches against Quixadá carry the sharpest edge in TEC's calendar; Russas is the other fixture that draws attention. The senior side plays out of the Estádio Tancredo Nunes, known around town as Tancredão, which holds around 2,000.

The club also fields an under-20 side in the Cearense youth championship, where it has faced Fortaleza's academy team, Floresta and Atlético Cearense among others.
