Tijuana Women

On 6 May 2017, in the final of the Copa MX Femenil, Pachuca ran riot and won 9-1. Inglis Hernández scored on 34 minutes for the team from Baja California.

The side had been put together five months earlier, on 5 December 2016, the same day Mexico's women's professional league was founded. Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente, the men's club running since 2007, added a women's team because the new competition required one. The nickname followed the same logic: Perrísimas , a feminine turn on the Xolos of the men's side, named after the Mexican hairless dog.

Running the team from the league's first season until 2022 was Andrea Rodebaugh , an American who had captained Mexico, played college football at UC Berkeley and turned professional in Japan and France. She was in charge for the 2017 final and for everything that came before the club had any history to speak of.

Fabiola Ibarra, a defender and one of the early captains, scored the club's first goal in Liga MX Femenil in 2017. Renae Cuéllar , a Mexican-American who joined in 2019 and now captains the side.

Home is the Estadio Caliente, shared with the men, red shirts and black shorts on matchday. Monterrey have become the fixture that decides things — the two meet in the play-offs often enough that the Liguilla draw tends to bring them together.

Cuéllar has 76 goals in official matches for Tijuana.
