Luleå HF Women — Färjestad Women: 4:3, SDHL Women

Luleå HF women faced Ferestad Women in the SDHL on Wednesday and came through 4-3. The result keeps the hosts in second place while Ferestad remain tenth on the board.

Both sides have played six matches and sit on zero points, so the table tells only part of the story. Luleå have won four and lost two, while Ferestad's record reads two wins and four defeats.

We had tipped the hosts at 68 per cent confidence, and that came good. The home side had already beaten Ferestad 2-1 eleven days earlier, and there was a sense the pattern might repeat.

By then Luleå were riding a run that included a 1-0 win over HV71 and a 4-3 comeback against Skellefteå AIK Women. Ferestad's recent form looked less convincing, with defeats to Frölunda and Linköping HC Women punctuating their campaign.

A four-goal win would have been comfortable, but a three-goal margin is just as telling when the opposition kept pushing until the final whistle. The hosts hold their position with a point to spare over third place.
