Brynäs defeated Modo 4-1 in the SDHL on Monday evening, keeping their unbeaten record intact on the road. The visitors were already top of the standings before kick-off and made no mistake of it. Modo, sitting sixth after five matches, could only manage one goal all game.
Both sides enter this fixture with zero points on the board — the season has only just begun and the table says very little. What matters more is momentum, and Brynäs arrived carrying six consecutive victories. Modo had won two of their previous five but lost three.
Brynäs have been in devastating form. They beat SDE 3-0 last time out, before dismantling Skellefteå AIK 4-0 and Löwen 5-1 in the weeks prior. They even edged past Djurgården 2-1 and swept Frölunda 3-0. Six wins from six is a statement, or perhaps just the beginning.
Modo's situation is less comfortable. They beat Frölunda 4-1 and Löwen 4-0 earlier in September, but since then have lost to Djurgården 5-2 and Skellefteå AIK 4-2. They had faced Brynäs once before, losing 4-2 away. This time the margin was wider, but the pattern held.
Brynäs remain clear at the summit, though the gap means nothing with so few games played. Modo are now three defeats from five, and the line has barely moved in the standings. One goal does not make a match, but it does show where the pressure sits.
