Circulo Deportivo

Match report

Costa Brava secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Círculo Deportivo in the Losers Stage - 5 of the Torneo Federal A on Saturday evening. The result keeps both sides in their respective positions in the table, with Costa Brava maintaining their fifth-place standing and Círculo Deportivo remaining in tenth.

M. Ortiz proved to be the decisive figure, striking in the 82nd minute. And here's the thing — it came after both teams had already reshuffled their lines. Three changes each had been made by the 70th minute, suggesting both managers sensed the game needed fresh legs.

The statistics paint a familiar picture: Círculo Deportivo dominated possession at 60 per cent and registered 91 attacks compared to Costa Brava's 57. Yet the visitors required just one shot on target to find the net, while the hosts managed five without converting. To be fair, Costa Brava's efficiency was commendable given the circumstances.

The away side kept their discipline throughout, receiving no cards, while Círculo Deportivo saw R. Lentini pick up a yellow card in the 89th minute. Another three substitutions came at the 84th minute for Costa Brava, as R. Banchio, L. Gomez and M. Campagnaro were brought on.

The result extends Costa Brava's recent form, which has seen them secure two wins and three draws from six matches. Círculo Deportivo, meanwhile, have managed just one victory from their opening six games, leaving them five points clear of the bottom.
