Bobby Orr left his feet the instant the puck crossed the line in overtime against the St. That goal, in 1970, sealed the fourth of their Stanley Cups.

Orr won the Hart Trophy three times in black and gold and added the Conn Smythe twice, but Boston's run of championships reaches back well before him. One of the NHL's Original Six, the club took its first Cup in 1929 and added two more within the following decade, beating the New York Rangers, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings in turn.

No rivalry has mattered more than the one across the border: Boston and the Montreal Canadiens have met in the Stanley Cup Finals twelve times.

Between 1972 and 2011 the Cup stayed away from TD Garden.
