KFUM Oslo 2:1 Kristiansund
KFUM Oslo claimed a hard-fought victory against Kristiansund on Saturday evening, winning 2:1 in the Eliteserien's sixteenth round. The match proved to be one of those tighter affairs where moments decide everything, and by then you could see the pattern forming after the first half. M. Eikrem opened the scoring before B. Njie responded to level matters.
And here's the thing about the second half — Kristiansund dominated possession at 58 per cent but struggled to convert their superiority into clear-cut opportunities. They created four big chances compared to KFUM's single one, yet the away side never really carved them open in the way their numbers suggested they should.
The turning point arrived in the 90th minute when substitute T. Svendsen struck late to give the home side all three points. It came after a series of changes on both benches, with Kristiansund bringing on J. Isaksen while KFUM introduced R. Rasch and R. E. Vinge to see out the closing stages.
The statistics told a familiar story — Kristiansund passed the ball more and moved it forward with 346 passes in the opposition half, while KFUM managed just 230. Yet when you look at shots accuracy, the home side hit 43 per cent of their attempts against the visitors' 31 per cent, and that efficiency made the difference.
Both teams sat on 19 points from 19 games before this fixture, so the result shifted the balance slightly at the bottom of the table. KFUM Oslo will have been relieved to avoid another slip after their recent run of defeats, while Kristiansund cannot afford to let such opportunities go begging when they control the game.
