Copenhagen ground out a 3-1 win against Silkeborg in the Superliga's second round of fixtures on Saturday. The visitors took control after a slow start, with Mohamed Elyounoussi's performance proving decisive. Oliver Ross gave the home side a brief lead before Copenhagen responded with three goals in quick succession.
Ross opened the scoring in the twenty-fifth minute, catching Silkeborg's defence off guard. Elyounoussi then levelled from close range forty-two minutes in, and immediately added a second just before the break on forty-five plus one. By then Copenhagen had switched to a more aggressive approach, and it showed in their movement.
The second half brought no let-up from the visitors. Elyounoussi completed his hat-trick in the sixty-second minute, slotting home after a well-worked move. Silkeborg made several changes in an attempt to find a way back into the game, bringing on Kirk in the seventy-eighth and Lokke again in the eighty-ninth minute. Copenhagen also rotated their side, introducing Larsson and Moukoko in the closing stages.
Copenhagen dominated possession with 56 per cent and launched 117 attacks compared to Silkeborg's 69. The hosts created three big chances but could only manage five shots on target from eleven attempts. Copenhagen were more clinical, landing six of their seven shots on target with only one going wide. The difference in efficiency told the story of the match.
The result extends Copenhagen's unbeaten run to eight games and keeps them top of the table with twenty-one points from eight matches. Silkeborg remain ninth with six points after seven games, their recent form of four wins and two draws now looking like a different era. The gap between the sides was clear on the day, and it will not close easily.
