Oviedo Baloncesto

In September 2025 Oviedo Baloncesto left the Polideportivo de Pumarín, known as "El Fortín de Pumarín", and moved into the renovated Palacio de los Deportes de Oviedo.

The club began in 2004, set up to fill the gap left when CB Vetusta was dissolved. The Liga EBA title in 2010 came first. The LEB Plata title in 2013 took it into the professional ranks, and it has since settled in the division now called Primera FEB, formerly LEB Oro. A Copa Princesa de Asturias followed in 2017, a regional trophy but one won on home ground.

The nickname, Los Carbayones, comes from the Asturian word for the holm oak. Navy blue, white and orange are the colours.

A local who had played in the ACB and the EuroLeague, he came back to a club of his own city. Juan José García went the other way. He came through Oviedo, reached the ACB and attended an NBA mini-camp. Harald Frey, the Norwegian international, took a different route, going to the ACB by way of Germany.

It has no name of its own, unlike the football "Derbi Asturiano" it sits beside.
