Correacamos UAT beat Tepatatitlán 3:1 in the Apertura round two of the Liga de Expansión MX on Friday evening. The hosts dominated proceedings from the outset and took the lead just before the interval. T. Arevalo's strike in the 45th minute gave them a cushion that proved decisive.
Tepatatitlán started brightly but struggled to create clear-cut opportunities. The away side's possession hovered around a third of the game, while Correacamos UAT controlled the midfield with 68 per cent of the ball. They created four big chances compared to Tepatatitlán's one.
And here's the thing about the second half — it was Correacamos UAT who extended their advantage. B. Mendoza opened his account in the 83rd minute before A. Ruiz added a third in stoppage time. Tepatatitlán pulled one back through B. Mendoza in the 91st minute, but it was too little too late.
The away side's defensive record continued to look fragile. They made 31 clearances and completed only 161 passes compared to the hosts' 518. Tepatatitlán also won just 12 of their 34 aerial duels, while Correacamos UAT secured 22. The visitors had five offsides against zero for the hosts.
Correacamos UAT move up to sixth place with 11 points from seven games. Tepatatitlán remain rooted at the bottom with just three points from their opening seven fixtures. The hosts have already played three matches since their last win, drawing once and losing twice.
