Recep Tayyip Erdoğan played for Erokspor, and he was not the only one — Mehmet Ali Şahin, later speaker of parliament, and Osman Aşkın Bak, a former youth and sports minister, both wore the same colours as young men.

Founded in 1959, the club underwent a restructuring in 2018 that moved it from Kasımpaşa to the Esenler district and put "Esenler" in front of the old name. It beat Modafenspor 2-1 in a promotion play-off to reach the third tier, then took the 3. Two years later it won the 2. Lig's White Group and, for the first time in its history, reached the TFF 1.

What the club has not done is win a cup.
