Nublense secured a 2-1 victory over Unión La Calera at the Estadio Nelson Oyarzún on Sunday, moving further clear of the relegation zone in the Primera División's Regular Season. The result leaves the hosts in sixth place with 32 points from 21 matches, while the visitors drop to 16th with just 14.
Sébastian Valencia was the architect of the home side's lead, striking twice in the opening half. His first came in the 22nd minute and his second just before the interval, giving Nublense control before the break. Unión La Calera's response was limited to a solitary goal from Carlos Díaz in the 77th minute, which briefly threatened to level the contest.
And here's the thing about the statistics: both teams enjoyed identical 50 per cent possession, but the difference lay in how they used it. Nublense fired 13 shots, four on target, while Unión La Calera managed only eight attempts with four hitting the target. The visitors created one big chance compared to none for the hosts, yet it was not enough to change the outcome.
The match saw its share of discipline issues, with two yellow cards falling to Unión La Calera players. Daniel Gutiérrez was booked in the 40th minute, followed by Brian Nicolas Ferreyra shortly after the restart. Nublense kept their discipline clean, receiving no cautions throughout the 90 minutes.
Substitutions began to flow from the 46th minute onward, with both managers looking to shift momentum. The home side brought on L. Molina Canto and G. Graciani together, while the visitors made double changes at the same time, introducing C. Moya and B. Ferreyra. Later changes included Y. W. Andia Leon for the visitors and D. Gutierrez as the game entered its final quarter.
To be fair, the table tells the story of two very different seasons. Nublense have won eight, drawn eight and lost five, sitting comfortably in mid-table. Unión La Calera, meanwhile, have managed only three victories from 21 games, with 13 defeats painting a worrying picture for the remainder of the campaign.
