Widzew and Radomiak Share Points in Goalless Standoff
Widzew Łódź and Radomiak played out a 0:0 draw in Ekstraklasa's seventh round at Widzew Stadium. Both sides had their chances but could not break through on Saturday afternoon. The result keeps Widzew in 13th place on seven points while Radomiak remain one spot above them on eight.
Conrado came off for Radomiak in the twentieth minute, an early change that caught the eye. Dani Silva was brought on for the hosts just before half-time. Widzew pressed forward with more intent, creating three big chances compared to Radomiak's three as well, though neither could find the net.
The game tightened after the break. Przemysław Wiśniewski received a yellow card in the sixtieth minute, and Fran Alvarez followed suit eleven minutes later. Rafał Wolski was cautioned for Radomiak in the seventy-fourth minute. Widzew thought they had taken the lead when Wiśniewski's goal was disallowed by VAR in the seventy-eighth minute.
Both managers made changes in the closing stages. Widzew introduced Marcin Fornalczyk and Abdoul Tapsoba in the seventy-fifth minute, while Radomiak brought on Guilherme Luiz a minute later. Sebastian Bergier picked up a yellow card for the hosts in the eighty-fourth minute. Marcel Krajewski was booked in stoppage time as the match wound down.
Widzew dominated possession at 60 per cent and completed 468 passes to Radomiak's 324. The hosts registered ten shots with two on target, while Radomiak managed eleven attempts with three on target. Both sides created three big chances each, but the shots accuracy figures tell a different story: Widzew hit just 13 per cent of their attempts, while Radomiak reached 20 per cent.
The draw extends Widzew's winless run to five matches across all competitions. They have now lost three of their last five league games, with only a 2:0 victory over Jagiellonia breaking the sequence. Radomiak's form has been more resilient, with two wins in their last three outings, though they still sit just one point clear in the table.
Widzew's defensive record remains a concern. They made 23 clearances and attempted fifteen tackles, while Radomiak cleared 47 balls and won sixteen tackles. The visitors worked harder in the air, winning sixteen of their thirty-eight aerial duels, but could not convert that advantage into goals.
The result leaves both sides in the bottom half of the table with room to improve. Widzew will want to find a winner soon, while Radomiak will take confidence from keeping a clean sheet away from home. The Ekstraklasa season is still young, but both clubs know they need to pick up points quickly if they are to climb away from the relegation zone.
