Sląsk Wrocław and Widzew Łódź drew 3:3 in the Ekstraklasa Regular Season on Saturday evening at Stadion Wrocław. The result leaves both sides level on points after five matchdays, each sitting in the bottom half of the table with six points from a win, three draws and two losses.
Widzew lost their defender Przemysław Wiśniewski to a red card in the seventh minute, but M. Garcia gave Sląsk the lead before half-time with a goal in the fifteenth minute. F. Alvarez equalised for the visitors in the thirty-sixth minute, and the match turned when S. Kapuadi turned the ball into his own net in the forty-seventh minute.
Sląsk looked set to take all three points, but Widzew fought back. A. Baena Perez found the net in the sixty-third minute, and despite a cancelled goal for L. Marjanac in the eightieth minute for offside, P. Banaszak restored the home side's advantage in the seventy-eighth minute. E. Shabani then struck in the eighty-ninth minute to complete the comeback.
Sląsk dominated possession at 69 per cent and created five big chances from eleven shots, while Widzew managed seven shots on target from twelve attempts with only 31 per cent of the ball. The home side made 580 passes compared to the visitors' 261, but the away team's efficiency in front of goal proved decisive.
Both teams remain in the lower half of the standings, though the result means neither side has pulled clear of the relegation zone. Sląsk now host their next fixture at home, while Widzew will look to build on this resilience when they return to action.
