Liberta Hold On After Católica Collapse
Liberta Asunción snatched a 2:1 victory over Universidad Católica in a match that swung on late drama. The visitors dominated possession but were reduced to ten men twice in stoppage time. Branda opened the scoring before Caicedo doubled their lead, yet Yanez's late strike forced nerves. Then came the red cards that sealed the result.
Branda struck in the 40th minute to give the home side the lead. Caicedo extended it in the 67th, and for a while it looked routine. Yanez pulled one back in the 85th and suddenly the game was alive again. By then Liberta were sitting comfortable on two goals.
The trouble started in the 90th minute. Estacio went off for a second yellow, and Cortez Casierra followed in the 90+1st. Two dismissals in six minutes turned a comfortable finish into a scramble. Católica had 66 per cent possession and 129 attacks, but their dominance counted for little.
Shots were level at 14 apiece, with six on target each. Católica created zero big chances while Liberta managed two. The visitors moved the ball well but have hit a wall when it mattered. And here's the thing — three red cards in one match changes everything.
Liberta move to 29 points, still seventh after 29 games. Católica drop to 48 points from third place. The home side had won three in a row before this; now they've extended their unbeaten run. The visitors have lost two of their last five and are running out of games to recover.
