Lech Poznań came away with a 3:2 victory over Widzew Łódź in the Ekstraklasa's sixth round, played at Widzew Stadium on 30 August 2026. The result leaves Lech second in the table with ten points from four games, while Widzew remain thirteenth on six points after six matches.
Lech struck first through Antoni Kozubal in the sixth minute, then extended their lead when Allahyar Sayyadmanesh found the net in the 22nd. Widzew responded quickly. Karol Świderski pulled one back in the 27th minute, and Mariusz Fornalczyk levelled in the 53rd. Luis Palma restored Lech's advantage in the 90th minute after a VAR penalty incident involving Mateusz Żyro was cancelled in the 91st.
And here's the thing about the stats — Lech dominated possession at 62 per cent and created three big chances, while Widzew managed only one. Yet Widzew were not far off in shots on target, registering seven to Lech's nine. The difference came in efficiency. By then, the visitors had already shifted into a more direct approach, playing more passes into the final third and maintaining better control of the game's tempo.
Lech made changes to protect their lead. Yassine Agnero came on in the 68th minute, and Paweł Walemark replaced a tired player in the 88th. Widzew made four substitutions in total — K. Widzew have now lost two of six league games this season. Their last five matches include a 3:3 draw with Śląsk Wrocław and a 1:2 defeat to Korona Kielce. Lech, meanwhile, sit unbeaten in four league outings and have nothing to lose heading into the next round. The visit to Widzew was not a comfortable win, but the three points are what mattered.
